Republicans only have themselves to blame....

The shutdown continues and no one in the Republican party is willing to stand up to their fellow Tea Party Republicans because they don't want to be "Primaried". The Republicans however caused this problem due to the gerrymandered districts they pushed through after the last census. Take a look at some of the maps

http://pjmedia.com/zombie/2010/11/11/the-top-ten-most-gerrymandered-congressional-districts-in-the-united-states/

(Look at all three pages of maps, I like the second page where water is used to bring non-contiguous areas together to form districts, all districts are suppose to be contiguous)

Now many of these gerrymandered districts have democrats as their representatives. This might make you believe that this is an advantage to the democrats, but what the republicans did was to group large swaths of democrats into these gerrymandered districts which left the other districts around them to lean heavily republican. By concentrating democrats in a single district more districts were made to lean republican meaning more republican House of Representatives got elected and explains why the republicans won more seats in the House of Representatives even though the democrats got more actual votes across the country. Now these republicans are being pushed by their constituents to shut down the government because they don't like the ACA and the representatives can't say no even though it is detrimental to the country.

I guess this is the law of unintended consequences. Be careful what you ask for.
