Airline Pricing

Just read an interesting article over at The Big Picture:

http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/2015/01/the-not-so-friendly-skies/

which talks about   https://skiplagged.com/   and how they can find flights that connect through your intended destination for cheaper than actually just getting  a ticket to your intended destination. Basically you get a ticket to someplace you are not actually going to that connects in the city you are wanting to go to. You don't use the second plane seat as you are already where you want to go. You cannot check luggage of course as your luggage will make its way to the city you aren't actually going to and the airlines frown upon this behavior. Loved the picture of what economy seating will look like. I actually saw a guy do this in Vegas on Fremont Street.

Even funnier is this new seating chart.  http://thecooperreview.com/deltas-new-airplane-seating-chart/

God I Love Rush Limbaugh...

....he never fails to bring a little laughter into my day. Rush shows his true self whenever he opens his mouth. The latest racist comment being that James Bond is white and can not be played by a black actor.

His followers lap it up though because they too are racists. Keep it up Limbaugh, they say laughter is the best medicine and I'm feeling awfully healthy after that good laugh.

And now for a Cuban cigar and some rum...

Opening up relations with Cuba will allow real Cuban cigars to be able to be brought back by travelers. This I can get behind. Now I just got to find someone that is traveling to Cuba.

Citigroup's Political Power

A great read over at The Baseline Scenario;

http://baselinescenario.com/2014/12/12/citighroup-will-be-broken-up/

The last part say it all:

“And now we’re watching as Congress passes yet another provision that was written by lobbyists for the biggest recipient of bailout money in the history of the country.   And it’s attached to a bill that needs to pass or else the entire federal government will grind to a halt. Think about this kind of power.  A financial institution has become so big and so powerful that it can hold the entire country hostage.  That alone is a reason enough for us break them up.  Enough is enough.”

I'm all for Elizabeth Warren for President.

Don't Stand for Anything Democrats vs Collective Stupidity of Republicans

great read over at the Bonddad Blog

http://bonddad.blogspot.com/2014/12/bonddads-post-election-rant.html

The best is at the end

"So, on one side, we have Democrats who don't really stand for anything and who have an aging and more and more ineffective leadership.  With the Republicans we have a pool of people who represent the largest known pool of collective stupidity we've ever seen."

Strip Club Sign in Pinellas Park FL

Over Thanksgiving I visited family in Florida and Alabama. In Pinellas Park, Florida as we were driving we came across a strip club that had the following message on it sign.

Glad I'm not in Detroit

Bad time to have a power outage in Detroit. Damn cold with highs in the 30's. I suppose it's just another sign of our failing infrastructure.  Funny comments though about the outage.

Fight the Power (outage).

The Public Unions must getting their pensions by the foot these days.

On the bright side Al Gore is giving them tax credits for reducing their carbon footprint.

There are plenty of abandoned house to get firewood from. The people will be fine.

On the timing of the Ferguson verdict...

Why did they wait till 7-8 PM to tell the verdict in the Ferguson Police shooting case? Are these people stupid. Let the sun go down and give the peeps time to get their drink on and then spring the news. Why not do it at 8 AM? Those with jobs are at work those without jobs are still sleeping. Its like they wanted the protesting to get out of control. Our leaders are complete morons.

As far as the verdict goes I am in no position to tell whether it was right or not. I don't have all the facts. The facts I do know of point toward the police officer first acting in self defense after being attacked but then I believe he went to far which to me looks like murder. It could be though that once you start to defend yourself the logical conclusion is for you eliminate the threat which would say it was all self defense. Once again though I don't have all the facts.

On Republican voters in Naples

Reading an article over at the Guardian

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/nov/03/republican-bully-pulpit-chris-christie-rick-scott-midterms

I came across this greatness:

"Instead, almost every one of the 100 people assembled this afternoon at the Golisano Children’s Museum looks to be late-middle-aged or comfortably retired, all confirming the old Orwell aphorism: “At 50, everyone has the face he deserves.” Aside from a few tautened and silicone-injected grotesques, the face is this: an older white person who just realized the elevator doors are closing and they are trapped in there with the fart deposited by whomever just left."

Too funny.

Acting all adultish

Found this gem at "Text from Last Night"

Megan McArdle Spawn

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0E4dYyQA0bo

Megan McArdle is a conservative columnist at the Washington Post and this is one of the comments to one of her posts.

"Anything by McArdle or her husband should be assumed to be bullshit. I'm convinced that their marriage was arranged by some long lived shadowy conspiracy, with the goal of producing a child that embodies the essence of bullshit. A conservative Kwisatz Haderach, basically."

Happy Comments

Was reading an article online about happiness now vs. back in the hunter gatherer period and came across this comment:

"I don't think things have changed much.

In the stone age, management painted a picture on the wall of the cave of how the hunt was supposed to go(it is a little known fact that cave painting were the Neolithic version of PowerPoint).Basically Ug had to run in front of the mammoth to distract it while the rest sneaked up from behind and dispatched it.

After the mighty hunters had returned from the chase bearing only a rabbit, management would berate the rest of the tribe for their incompetence, while the rest grumbled about how they knew the plan wouldn't work right from the start. Except for Ug of course who was trampled underfoot by the enraged mammoth.

And management ate the rabbit.

But on the positive side, thanks to Ug's demise, the position of Senior VP of Mammoth Distraction is now open."

Or this upbeat one:

"Life is for the young. We live too long, now. Dying at the ripe old age of 35, after raising your kids, is what nature 'intended'. The problem is we now live long enough to realize that life is a pointless, meaningless crock of bullshit."

He wasn't too happy it seems

Invasion of the Super Rodent

We have had quite a few mice this year that have made it into my office building. One was found dead above a PM's office and 2 more were caught in glue traps that are made for insects. We now have at least one and possibly two judging by their preferred diet that are munching on food in desk drawers. On the east side of the building one is eating chips and candy. The one on my side, the west side, is starting to concern us as he has eaten protein bars and vitamins. We could have a rodent that is bulking up. Orkin guy can't get here soon enough.
