I have an idea about why the pollsters once again were off.
I believe it is because quite a few of the Trump supporters are ashamed of voting for Trump. They don't want anyone to know. They don't like Trump but they just dislike the other candidate more. The vocal ones you can see everywhere with their Trump flags on their trucks and boats. The quite ones cower in shame.
If you can't speak openly about who you are voting for you might want to re-examine who you are as a person.
